How we're helping to inspire kids to connect with nature.

Behind the incredible scientific research and stunning landscapes at Wakehurst, we also have a passionate, hardworking Learning team, striving to inspire the next generation of experts. 

Working alongside schools across the southeast, we help to foster a connection with nature and deepen their understanding of science through school trips to Wakehurst.

1. We’re a busy bunch! 

Each year, our passionate team engages with around 10,000 pupils across 400 classes - we’re growing fast!

2. Thirteen dedicated teachers lead over 50 hands-on workshops.

Our sessions are tailored to different ages, abilities, and interests — there’s something for everyone!

4. Inclusivity is our priority! 

We provide trip bursaries for up to 2,550 pupils annually, supporting schools facing challenges.

5. Our workshops don't just educate

We help schools connect with the National Curriculum in an engaging, interactive way. By exploring plant science and nature, we inspire the next generation.

6. We empower young minds to think green

By connecting with nature, students understand its relevance, potential careers, and how to be future stewards of our environment.

7. Our nature-connectedness sessions help students de-stress.

They learn to appreciate the outdoors and develop pro-environmental attitudes. Schoolchildren have also played a role in our ground-breaking Nature Connectedness research. A win-win for wellbeing and the planet.

8. Climate anxiety is real, so we provide hope and solutions to our pupils. 

Our workshops demonstrate that learning and acting together can make a big difference and rather than be scared, we can solve!

Our training opportunities enhance science teaching skills and tackle areas where educators may lack confidence.
